Welcome to the Albany Motor Yacht Club, we are a friendly, fun loving club based on the River Thames, near Hampton Court. With members based largely in and around Shepperton & Penton Hook marinas.
We aim to encourage and foster the pastime of motor cruising on inland waterways and at sea.
We meet on the second Monday of each month at the Dittons Skiff & Punting Club where recent events are reviewed, forthcoming events planned and we socialise.
Speakers are invited to our monthly meetings [e.g. RNLI, Environment Agency, Air Ambulance, etc.] and there are also training opportunities; including first aid, flares, navigation and other practical boating activities either at the monthly meeting or while out and about.
Prospective members are very welcome to join us, without obligation.

During the boating season we schedule non-tidal and tidal cruises, social events, training and much more.
Example - A training weekend was arranged at Runnymede, on the Thames, where a number of club boats attended as well as few members by car. The idea of the training was to practice picking up and securing to a mooring buoy. Taking a note of our position with bearings to make sure that the buoy was holding the boat in positions. This was repeated by different members in turn, with some familiar with the exercise, and others never having done this before.
The buoy was then recovered and we performed a man overboard exercise using a fender instead of a person. Keeping the fender in full view at all times and pointing to it while the boat was turned around, brought safely alongside and then collected.
Later we had a demonstration of resuscitation practice and the use of an AED [Automatic external Defibrillator], which the club has, along with other essential safety practices, like recovery position and correct use of bandages.
Since then we have held further updates on first aid kits at the club monthly meeting, checking for expiry dates, and the use of different types bandages that can be used including trauma.

River Thames Night Cruise
Even when the weather turns some of our club are still out on the water, taking in the sights....
These images are from a recent tidal night cruise to see London's illuminated bridge installations.
We are planning another such trip next year, when more bridges will have been completed.
